New free trace tool from Percepio

Percepio has just released Percepio View, a new simplified version of Percepio Tracealyzer, provided free of charge also for commercial use. No registration is required.

A reference project for Percepio View is found in CORTEX_MPS2_QEMU_IAR_GCC, supporting both GCC and IAR. This runs in the QEMU simulator, so no development board is needed.

A big thanks to the FreeRTOS team for your support and for highlighting Percepio View on FreeRTOS.org.

Can we expect a MacOS app as well? If yes, do you have a timeline for it?

Currently we support Windows and Linux. There are plans for MacOS support, but the timeline is… unclear…

Does Percepio View support FreeRTOS SMP?

It appears to work, but SMP isn’t really officially supported in Percepio View. It has not been tested with SMP. Moreover, Percepio View is limited to snapshots of at most 16 KB trace buffer size. We recommend using Percepio Tracealyzer for multicore SoCs to get unlimited trace size and many additional features.
