FreeRTOS v12 any updates?

Hi all,

In this video, Richard Barray talked about FreeRTOS v12 that should have source code refactoring, cleanup and most likely compatiblity break.

As this video is about 1 year old, I’m wondering whether the roadmap has been already setup and the approximative release date defined?

regards
Haithem.

Hi - yes the work I referred to has been ongoing for some time, primarily by and for another team within Amazon that require safety certification. The intention is to release the result in Github, although its not certain exactly how yet, especially as Parasoft is used as the static checking/test/etc. tool. It may start on a branch, or be placed in the mainline right away, either way the intent is to end up with a single version, hence “v12”. I believe this should be within the next three to four months but will let others provide a more accurate timeline.

For roadmap you can also always look here Roadmap · GitHub

We generally try not to commit to specific launch dates on roadmap items as people tend to plan for these dates and then invite disappointment when something comes up which moves the dates, but the safety certification work is going strong and is in progress. The time line will depend on the feedback we get from the certification bodies over the next couple of months as Richard has indicated.
