Trace and List Facility

Can the trace and list facility list to the same buffer or do
they need to have separate buffers?

They can be the same buffer (but obviously not used at the same time :-).

Can you use vTaskList() without running vTaskStartTrace()?

The WEB server demos do exactly this to generate a page that shows the current tasks and their states - so the answer is yes.

There is a caveat in that listing the tasks leaves interrupts disabled for longer than would normally be advisable so this is good for getting debug information and demonstration but is not good for production systems.  I think this is to capture a snapshot of the state the state cannot change while the sprintf’s are being called so interrupts have to be disabled while the whole table is generated.
